19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a close final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
